Ralph Bencivengo, clinic director of Body Rehab, wants to help you meet your health and fitness goals. Body Rehab is a 20-year-old facility that offers patient centered care with personal training, instruction and exercise programs for those seeking to meet specific health-related goals.
The name signifies the decision to make a change for the better, getting the body back to a healthy state and feeling good about it, he said.
Bencivengo said most people come in because of health-related issues like diabetes or high blood pressure or because being overweight is beginning to affect their health and life.
“We’re going to get you where you want to be if you want to do it,” said Bencivengo.
Most of their clients are adults who need more specialized, attentive help.
Bencivengo said the facility is a small, personal place in an intimate setting. A chiropractor at another business of his, Bencivengo, who has a doctor of chiropractic degree from National Chiropractic College in Chicago, Ill., expanded into what he calls a “natural extension” of the business. He said the company is concerned about people’s health and the quality of service they provide so that people can get the results they seek and do it safely.
Staff members are always available for supervision and help. Bencivengo said one of the benefits of the facility is its size and attention that isn’t matched in many large gyms and classes.
“No one slips through the cracks,” Bencivengo said. Those who seek help at the facility are reviewed and evaluated for free. Afterward, Bencivengo and staff write a program for them specific to their particular needs.
As people progress with their individual programs, their programs are continually changed, so that they can progress.
Some strategies include advising on what to eat and what not to eat, or what things to eat more and less, Bencivengo said. Some clients prefer to use methods including food or exercise journals.
Bencivengo said one of the most gratifying aspects of working at the facility comes when people are able to stop taking their blood pressure or diabetes medication because of the program.
“There’s nothing more rewarding then seeing people get to that point,” he said.
Body Rehab also offers massage therapy including both Thai and hot stone massages and a stretching program. They also work with athletes for speed and agility training.
Two former members of Body Rehab now work at the facility after having met their goals. Bencivengo said many clients continue to go to the facility even after getting to where they want to be.
“There’s no pressure to keep coming here once you meet your goals, but when people come here, they stay,” he said.
