For the second time in the last three months, the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) has announced it has authorized grants for improvement projects at WW-P — this time, to the tune of $4,374,277.

According to a press release from the state Department of Education, the money will be used to partially fund a total of 42 facilities projects within the district.

Most of the projects included roofing and lighting replacement projects in many schools within the WW-P district.

The grants announcement follows a previous announcement by the SDA in May that it would be funding improvements to High School South’s corridor and vestibule ceilings and lighting, at a cost of $190,224. The total cost of that project is expected to be $475,560.

At the time of the last announcement, school officials said they had already known about the award and calculated the $190,000 into the budget. School officials also said then that they had hoped the original announcement would include news about the 44 applications they had submitted in a subsequent round in January, 2010.

Announced in July, this most recent round of funding delivers approximately $270 million in state funds towards the cost of 740 capital maintenance and construction projects at 177 school districts around the state.

According to the DOE press release, the total $4.37 million allocated to the WW-P district will have to be complemented by $6.56 million of the district’s own funding, which, according to the chart provided by the state, has already been allocated in capital improvement funding in this year’s WW-P school budget.

Grants are covered by the DOE in fixed annual allocations based on a prioritization process that considers critical needs, such as health, safety, special education, renewal of existing buildings, and overcrowding.

The projects are depicted in a chart from the state, showing the funding allocations, as well as the total amount each project will cost. Listed below are the state grants for each school:
