South Tennis: Three Straight MCT Titles
For the third straight year, the High School South girls’ tennis team has won the Mercer County Tournament. This time the Pirates took home four out of five individual titles in the win. With 24 points, the Pirates beat Princeton and Princeton Day. North finished in fourth place, with 15 points.
For the Pirates, Belinda Ji (second singles), Sahana Jayaraman (third singles), Larissa Lee Lum and Mallory Wang (first doubles), and Nicole Joseph and Catharine Wong (second doubles) all took home individual titles.
Joe Rosa Out For Rest of XC Season
The Rosa twins are well-known staples of North’s cross country program, and many anticipated watching them together as seniors this year. Not so fast. Joe Rosa, who injured his foot in August, is out for the season and has reportedly already had surgery to repair the ailment.
Despite the loss of last year’s 2009 Meet of Champions winner and course record holder at Holmdel, North seems to be faring well this season. Joe’s twin, Jim, took home first place in the boys’ championship division at the 39th Shore Coaches Invitational at Holmdel Park early this month.
Meanwhile, both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams at South remain undefeated, both at 7-0. The North and South boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will face each other in a tri meet on Tuesday, October 12.
Homecoming
North’s Homecoming celebration will be held Saturday, October 9, while South will hold its Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 30. During its homecoming weekend, the North football team will host Rancocas Valley at 2 p.m.
