Criminal Mischief. Someone spray-painted the exterior wall of the Princeton Arms Shopping Center sometime between October 15 and October 20, said Officer Melissa Nagy. The cost to repair the wall was estimated to be $300.
Drug Arrests. Catherine L. Bruton, 19, of Island Heights, was charged October 31 with possession of marijuana. Sergeant Matthew Kemp said he was patrolling Mercer County Park when he found a car with three occupants parked in the west picnic area. Since the park closes at dusk, he approached the car and said he smelled burning marijuana coming from inside the car. He found that the rear seat passenger, Bruton, was in possession of the marijuana.
Reginald J. Cook Jr., 26, of New Brunswick was charged October 28 with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Christopher Van Ness said he stopped a car on Route 1 for having an inoperable headlight. While Van Ness was questioning the driver of the car, he said he saw Cook drop a bag of marijuana on the ground next to the passenger side door. Police said they found he had active warrants out of Bound Brook, the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department, and Piscataway. He was sent to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department.
DWI Arrests. Manish R. Kamani, 34, of Fairless Hills, was charged October 30 with driving while intoxicated. Officer Justin Insalaco said he stopped him on Route 1 South at Alexander Road after he saw him make an unsafe and abrupt lane change and then pull away at a high speed. He said he found that Kamani was intoxicated. He was also charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.
Gregory T. Hoffman, 20, of Plainsboro, was charged October 31 with driving while intoxicated. Officer Walter Silcox said that he was investigating a one-car accident at the intersection of Clarksville and Penn Lyle roads. He said that Hoffman’s car struck a tree around 4:18 a.m. Hoffman was not injured, but Silcox said he found he was intoxicated. He was also charged with careless driving and reckless driving.
Deborah L. Brooks, 30, of Hamilton was charged October 29 with driving while intoxicated. Officer Christopher Van Ness said he stopped her on Route 1 at Nassau Park Boulevard for speeding and found her to be intoxicated. She was also charged with speeding, reckless driving, and making an unsafe lane change.
