Fairleigh Dickinson University: Meha Sheth of Plainsboro attended the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders, June 4 to 6, at the University of Maryland, College Park. A graduate of High School South, she is in the BS/DMD where she will pursue a doctor of dental medicine degree after receiving her bachelor’s degree.##M:[more]##Sheth received the University Honors freshman writing award and is part of the Emerging Leaders Program at FDU. She has been on the honors list for the past three semesters.

Last July she received the New York Life Bharat Yatra VI (Journey to India VI) essay competition, and was awarded a two-week tour of Maharastra, India. Active in campus affairs, Sheth served as secretary of the United Nations Club, and a member of the Biology Club and Green Club.

“I know that what I see and learn at the conference will inspire me to become a better student, a better leader and, most important, a better woman,” said Sheth. “I hope to improve upon the leadership skills that Fairleigh Dickinson has helped me find within myself. I hope to draw on these experiences for the rest of my life, so that someday I can inspire and motivate the females in my life to dream big and succeed in whatever they dream of doing.”

The conference features inspiring speakers, the Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony, and workshops on a variety of topics such as advocacy, leadership skill building, financial management, and health and wellness.

Bucknell University: Nancy Breden of West Windsor is on the dean’s list. She graduated from High School North, Class of 2008.

Lehigh University: Five West Windsor residents who graduated include Andrew Jang, bachelor’s degree is business and economics; Gihan Jayasuriya, bachelor of arts in behavioral neuroscience; Lisa Luzzi, bachelor’s degree in mathematics and psychology; Andrew O’Brien, bachelor of arts degree in economics; and Leslie Watt, bachelor of arts degree in behavioral neurosciences.

George Mason University: Rebecca Shi, a student at High School South, and a Plainsboro resident, is attending the USA Biology Olympiad. The program, in its seventh year, stimulates young scholars’ intellectual curiosity and develops their critical thinking skills in biological reasoning. At the USABO National finals, scholars study the fields of cellular biology, microbiology, biotechnology, plant anatomy and physiology, animal anatomy and physiology, ethology, genetics and evolution, ecology, and biosystematics.

The national finalists are selected after participating in an open exam followed by a semi-final exam. The top four students will be named “Team USA 2009” and will represent the United States at the IBO. All four members of Team USA earned gold medals at the 2007 and 2008 IBO.

Susquehanna University: Dylan J. Roth of West Windsor is on the dean’s list. A rising junior, he is majoring in creative writing.

College of William and Mary: Rebecca Pierson graduated magna cum laude with a degree in business administration. She is working for Ernst & Young in McLean, Virginia, and attending the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in pursuit of her master’s of accounting degree. She graduated from High School North, Class of 2005.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute: Area students on the spring dean’s list include Markus Franz, West Windsor, a senior majoring in aeronautical engineering; Neil Desai, West Windsor, a senior majoring in electrical engineering; Dhruv Chanchani, Plainsboro, a senior in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; and Sean Connor, West Windsor, a sophomore majoring in biomedical engineering.

Washington and Lee University: Jonathan Michael Lupo, a senior from West Windsor, is on the dean’s list. Neville Lyons Fogarty, a junior from West Windsor, is on the dean’s list.
