Things are not always what they seem to be. When Lisa Recchia of West Windsor was called by Claire Morris, also of West Windsor, to pick up a prize she had won at her Cranbury boutique, Charmed by Claire, Recchia was expecting a small purse, or a wallet. She remembered entering a contest at the store several months before. The contest, sponsored by Brighton, a company specializing in accessories, luggage, gifts, and jewelry, was really awarding Recchia an all expense first class trip for two to Hawaii.##M:[more]##
“I’m so glad there are companies like this that do things for people,” said Morris. “I’m so thrilled for her.”
Recchia, a secretary at Wicoff School for 16 years, has been an instructional assistant in kindergarten classes for six years. “It’s the best of both worlds,” she says.
Born in West Windsor 42 years ago, she was raised at 405 Clarksville Road. When she married Ron, a carpenter, they moved two houses down the street. She has never flown in a plane. Neither has her sister, Cathy Tantum, a secretary at High School South.
Tantum was the one who introduced her to Charmed by Claire. Recchia was in the store with Tantum and their friend, Lynn Grodnick, a teacher at South, a few months ago. While Tantum and Grodnick happily entered the contest for a trip to Hawaii, Recchia hesitated. “If I fill it out with my luck I will win it,” she says. She was right.
“I am excited, overwhelmed, and have a lot of emotions,” says Recchia, who has a full year to make plans for the trip.
