Naomi Sparks, 86, of West Windsor died December 17 at the University Medical Center at Princeton. Born in West Deer, Pennsylvania, she moved to Princeton Junction with her family in 1965. She was employed with Carter Wallace for 18 years.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, John Sparks; daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Ed Zacherl; sister, Ruth Pawloski; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.

Marina Salgado, 71, of Middletown, Delaware died December 18. Survivors include a daughter, Amantha Valderrama of West Windsor.

Elvin Lewis Dow Jr., 87, of Hamilton died December 21 in Capital Health Systems at Fuld. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Elvin Lewis “Skip” and Linda Emily Dow III; and grandchildren, Edward Lewis “Chip” Dow and Emily Joan Dow, both of West Windsor. Dr. Ricardo S. Viloria, 72, of Plainsboro died December 24 in the Virtua Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in the Philippines, he came to the United States in 1969. He lived in New Jersey since 1984 and lived in Plainsboro since 1993. He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church.

He received his medical degree from Manila Central University in Manila. A house surgeon for Virtua Memorial Hospital of Burlington, Mount Holly, for many years, he previously worked at the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center North, both in New York.

Survivors include wife Maribel; three sons, and a daughter-in-law, Ricardo and Karen Viloria of New York City, Andrew Viloria of Washington, D.C., and Eric Viloria of New York City. Also, a brother, Dr. Francisco Viloria of California; three sisters, Rafaela Navarra, Luz Tacata, also of California, and Flor Valeros of the Philippines.

Clyde A. Matthews, 84, of Danvers, Massachusetts died December 25, at the West Roxbury Veterans Administration hospital. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Nadia Matthews of West Windsor.

Edgar L. Van Zandt, 80, of Plainsboro died December 25, in Kindred Hospital, Havertown, Pennsylvania. Born in Princeton, he lived in Plainsboro since 1998.

A graduate of Cornell University, Class of 1949, with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Van Zandt owned and operated Van Zandt Farm, Truck and Construction Equipment Company, first in Blawenburg, then in Raritan. He was later a sales representative with Hobensack Farm Equipment, Warminster, Pennsylvania.

His civic activities included being a long-time treasurer for Habitat for Humanity, Trenton; the former head of the Hunterdon County Housing Association where he was responsible for obtaining low-cost senior citizen housing in Flemington; a 50-plus year member of the Princeton Agricultural Society; the head of the Buildings and Roads Committee of Windrose Estates, Plainsboro; and a member of the Princeton Old Guard.

Survivors include two sons, David. Van Zandt of Chicago, and Thomas Van Zandt of Redondo Beach, California; two daughters, Mary Wachterhauser of Havertown, Pennsylvania, and Shirley E. Van Zandt of Upperco, Maryland; a brother, John Van Zandt, Jr. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a sister, Elizabeth Adams of Greenville, South Carolina, and six grandchildren.

Albert C. Eppinger Jr., 74, of Edison died December 27 at Care One at the Highlands, Edison. Survivors include daughter, Susan Falkowitz of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Care Alternatives Hospice, 70 Jackson Drive, Cranford 07016

Doris Madeline Bowers, 84, of West Windsor died December 28 at home. Born in Trenton, she was a lifetime resident of Grovers Mill.

She was a proofreader for Educational Testing Services and a custodian for West Windsor Board of Education. Bowers was a member of the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church, the Hamilton Square Grange, 4-H member of Trenton, and a former member of the Princeton Junction Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of more than 60 years, Elvin Edward Bowers; one daughter and son-in-law, Sally A. and Roger L. Osgood; a grandson, Randolph Edward Osgood and his fiance, Patricia M. Aliaga; and a granddaughter, Anna Leigh Osgood.

Ruth Virginia Pretat, 91, of Warminster, Pennsylvania died December 29. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Stephen and Leslie Pretat of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 44 Iris Street, Fall River, MA 02720-7722.

Paula J. Baranowski, 60, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, died December 31. Survivors include her brother Dr. Otto B. Jorgensen, Jr., M.D. and his family, all of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Maryland Chapter.

Margaret Reinhard, 83, of Freehold died January 3. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Thomas F. and Susan Reinhard of West Windsor.

Elizabeth Knego, 81, of Iselin died January 5 at the Arnold Walter Nursing Center, Hazlet. Survivors include a son, William Knego of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to the Care Alternatives Hospice, Jackson Drive, Suite 200, Cranford 07016.

Janet Howard, 61, of Plainsboro died January 3 in a drowning accident. Raised on army bases around the world, she attended high school in Maryland. She later studied art at the University of Maryland and moved to New Jersey in 1970.

Howard was an acquisitions supervisor at Douglass College. Survivors include daughter Molly Mastrangelo of Plainsboro and seven grandchildren.
