Plainsboro has received a $269,”000 grant from the state Department of Transportation’s 2009 Local Aid Bikeway Program.
The grant will be combined with the $160,”000 from the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders to fund the completion of a bikeway segment along Plainsboro Road between Prospect and Maple avenues. Constructing this segment is complicated because of the steep bank along the roadway, officials said.
When completed the bikeway will connect the residential Walker Gordon development to the Village Center and new library via Plainsboro Road. A stamped asphalt cross-walk at Plainsboro Road, at Prospect Avenue and the Fire District headquarters has already been completed and will be painted and striped when the weather permits, officials said.
West Windsor has also received a $125,”000 grant from the DOT. The grant will provide a dedicated bike path adjacent to South Post Road between Village Road West and Mercer County Park along the Mercer Oaks Golf Course.
