Mercia Brenne Bachmann, 96, of Townshend, Vermont died February 2. Born on a wheat farm in Saskatchewan she was a longtime West Windsor resident and a founding member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Princeton Junction.
A graduate of St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota, she became a social worker since her father, a Lutheran pastor, counseled her that the time was not right for female ministers.
Her late husband, E. Theodore Bachmann, a church historian from Philadelphia, served in a wide variety of positions around the world within the Lutheran church. The couple marched in Selma, Alabama, with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., wrote “Lutheran Churches in the World” and “The United Lutheran Church in America, 1918-1962.”
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, F. Brenne and Catharina of Vimmerby, Sweden, and daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Christopher, of Putney, Vermont; two granddaughters; and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 22, at 4 p.m., at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Donations may be made to the church.

Arthur C. Allen, 88, of West Windsor died February 14 in Princeton Care Center. Born in Bayonne, Allen moved to West Windsor in 1950 and was a member of the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He served as a business administrator for Princeton University and retired in 1985 after 28 years of service.

Virginia C. High, 89, of Pennington died February 14 at Stony Brook Assisted Living in Pennington. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she lived in West Windsor from 1958 to 1995. A former secretary at Princeton University and ETS, she became a real estate associate with Kings Grant Real Estate of Princeton.

Victoria Mary Podosky McIntyre, 96, of Trenton, died February 16 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton. Born in Pennington, she was a resident of West Windsor for more than 65 years.
