West Windsor-Plainsboro Girl Scouts held crafting events in both West Windsor and Plainsboro. The girls made holiday presents and ornaments including napkin ring holders, wooden snowflakes, yarn angels, candy party poppers, wooden reindeer magnets, pine cone decorations, and Chanukah door knob hangers. ##M:[more]##
The items were delivered to local charities and senior homes such as Wish Tree, Greenwood House, Acorn Glenn, Lawrenceville Nursing Home, Bear Creek Assisted Living, and Hamilton Continuing Care. Ornament making stations were run by older Girl Scouts who assisted the Brownie level scouts.
Members of Girl Scout Troop 1613, a junior troop from Plainsboro, helped Brownies make beautiful sun catchers and painted “be happy” and “be well” on large rocks. They visited the dialysis unit at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, singing holiday songs and putting sun catchers in their windows.
Jaclyn Wemple and Aimee Gawroniak, Cadette Scouts from Troop 1613, made chili, corn bread, and brownies for the teenagers at the Anchor House in Trenton. The troop also donates time to the Cat Rescue in South Brunswick. They are developing a plan for ongoing support for the homeless cats in this area.
“These girls have always been keen on community service and as they get older, I am so thrilled that their energy and drive to better their world just gets stronger,” said their leader, Mona Gawroniak.
