Girl Scouts of West Windsor-Plainsboro Service Unit has announced the winners of Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards.
The Gold Award, the highest in Girl Scouting, includes prerequisites of community service, leadership, career exploration, and interest project badges. Each girl must then propose and complete a community service project taking at least 60 hours.##M:[more]##
The Silver Award (Cadettes) and Bronze Award (Juniors) are the highest awards at their respective levels and also involve prerequisites as well as a major project.
Gold Award recipients include:
Crystal Hernandez, Troop 70166 (leader Joan Hernandez), for her project “Senior Amongst Seniors.” Hernandez created, organized, and ran eight different events for the residents at Runnell’s Specialized Hospital. Some of the events included bowling, baking dog treats, a retro party, bingo, and craft day.
Elizabeth Wembacher, Troop 70166 for her project “Classroom Makeover.” Wembacher gave a dull and dreary classroom at St. Paul Catholic School a make-over in order to give the room a more cheerful and friendly environment. In addition to giving the room a thorough cleaning, she painted the walls, closet doors, and bookshelves.
Ragini Sharma, Troop 71413 (leaders Maria Fisher and Barbara O’Connell), for her project “Gardening, Preserving, and Beautifying our Community”. Sharma researched, planned, and planted a butterfly garden at the Plainsboro Preserve. She also led Girl Scouts of all levels in helping plant the garden and environmentally related badge work.
Silver Award recipients include:
Katelyn Baker, an independent, “Bunnies for Babies.”
Jennifer Dowling, an independent, “Protocol for Bonfire & Crafting at Community Service Events.”
Nichelle Mendes, Jenna Modi, Anna Schnitter, Casey Schoenholtz, Katie Sibley, and Elizabeth Williams, Troop 71525, “WW-P Service Unit Talent Show,” (leader Kathy Modi).
Bronze Award recipients include:
Maunika Atmakuri, Danielle Han, Sreeja Kondeti, Katie Kullmann, Samantha McNulty, Shweta Mohite, Keeta Santhakumar, Alina Schulz, Emma Wilby, Troop 71607 (leaders Padmaja Kondeti and Margaret Wilby), “Operation Smile Bags.”
Victoria Hernandez, Troop 70166 (leader Joan Hernandez), “Animal Shelter Service Project.”
Amanda Brown, Candace Burch, Caroline Chan, Ashni Dattani, Priya Dhond, Kaitlin Foley, Harshita Gadangi, Sophia Goldberg, Olivia Helck, Sandhya Kaul, Khyati Lad, Kateryna Osadchuk, and Samantha Sun, Troop 70207 (leaders Holly Goldberg and Pat Helck), “Fairies Around the World.”

Poojan Divan, Brianne Giambagno, Stefanie Infante, Shanzay Khan, Sarah Klieger, Jayani Muniappan, Madison Ochs, Nicole Petty, Pooja Rajan, Christina Roder, Sneha Salgam, and Vinita Yadav, Troop 70700 (leaders Deb Klieger and Gina Ochs), “Handmade Comforts for Patients at RWJ Hospital.”
Attendees at the ceremony included Mary Connell, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central & Southern NJ; Assembly members Linda Greenstein and Wayne DeAngelo; Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes; West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh, Plainsboro Township Committee member Nuran Nabi, and Community Middle School Principal Arthur Downs.
