After nearly a year of searching, West Windsor finally has a new Township Engineer, starting in mid-December.##M:[more]##
Francis Guzik, of Van Cleef Engineering, in Hamilton, was unanimously approved as the township’s new engineer during the Township Council’s November 10 meeting. He replaces James Parvesse, who left the township last December to work as the engineer in Lawrence. A contract with Parvesse for engineering consultant services through December 31 was approved earlier this month for transitional work. Rob Korkuch has been serving has the acting engineer. His contract was also extended earlier this month to December 31.
Business Administrator Chris Marion said Guzik was selected from a pool of nine applicants. “I’m very pleased to say that with his professional background and his personality, I think he’s a great fit for West Windsor township and our managment team,” Marion said.
“I personally have read his resume and background, and I’ve interviewed him, and I’m satisfied that this applicant, based on the reccomendation of administration, is a good applicant,” Council President Charles Morgan said.
Guzik, a lifetime residents of Robbinsville, told township officials during the meeting that he has been working locally since 1991, with background experience in working with township engineering departments in Hopewell, Hightstown, and Robbinsville.
“I did a lot of municipal work for the first half of my professional experience,” he said. “My second half has been dealing with land development for schools, municipalities, public works, and things of that nature.”
Guzik has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Rutgers and is a licensed engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Marion said. He has been with Van Cleef for 17 years.
“You’ve lived and worked in municipalities that are growth areas,” said Councilwoman Linda Geevers. “I think that will assist you here with all of that experience.”
