Plainsboro’s engineering firm, CME Associates of Parlin, has been recognized by the New Jersey Society of Municipal Engineers for its work in the road improvements at Dey and Scudders Mill roads.##M:[more]##
The firm, and specifically township engineer David J. Samuel, received first place in Category C of the society’s annual Municipal Engineering Project of the Year Awards, and was recognized at a luncheon in Atlantic City last month. Category C covers municipal construction projects in municipalities with populations of 20,”000 and above in which the consultant awarded was appointed as the township’s municipal engineer.
Plainsboro had called on Samuel to develop a plan to address the township’s traffic concerns at the intersection of the two roads and the uncertainty of the future construction of the proposed Route 92 by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
According to the firm’s website, Samuel worked with county and township officials to develop a cost-sharing agreement between the two parties, in which the township was responsible for bidding the project as well as 25 percent of the construction cost, while the county would bear 75 percent of the construction costs.
Samuel was also involved in supporting a “Real Intersection Design” development workshop in which experts from the transportation field met to discuss improvements at the Dey/Scudders Mill intersection, including cycling, driving, streetscape, and pedestrian access, the firm’s website states.
