Troop 40’s newest Eagle, Ian Clark, is a senior at High School North. More than 100 people attended his Eagle Court of Honor at the Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church held on February 25.##M:[more]##
Clark joined Cub Scouts in 1996 in Edison, two years before moving to West Windsor, and joined Cub Scout Pack 40 in 1998. As a Boy Scout, he earned his Arrow of Light in 2000 and joined BSA Troop 40. During that time, he has held leadership positions within Troop 40, including assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, instructor, chaplain’s aide, and quartermaster.
Clark attended many Boy Scout summer camps and a Klondike winter campout in 3-degree weather and helped run a Special Olympics campout as the senior patrol leader.
His Eagle Scout project involved leading a team of volunteer scouts and adults in the construction of rustic log benches for the walking trail at the Millstone River preserve on Grovers Mill Road in West Windsor. The bench plans and finished benches were inspected by Dan Dobramilsky, the West Windsor Township landscape architect.
He raised funds with a car wash at Acme and by working on the clean-up of open space for Friends of West Windsor Open Space.
Clark has also worked at the Cherry Tree Club, a day care for children from impoverished families, and three summers with Saint David the King church youth group on a Habitat for Humanity project in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
He started swimming as a High School North freshman and has earned three varsity letters. He has worked as a lifeguard at the West Windsor community pool, and has also served as a swim instructor and staff member. He will be entering his final season as a member of the North varsity golf team this spring.
A active member of Saint David the King, he has served as a lector, usher, and religious education instructor. Ian’s older brother Chris attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 2004 from Troop 40 and his brother Colin is a Life Scout, who has completed all of the required BSA merit badges.
Ian Clark has also participated as a host and panelist in the Diocese of Trenton’s RealFaithTV, a cable television show aimed at Catholic teen-agers. He and Ciara Schoenauer, also of West Windsor, are members of the talent team for Realfaith TV coordinated by the Diocese of Trenton.
