##M:[more]##1.) I would like to see the plan re-done without the 1,”000 housing units and consider where we go from there. We talk about open government and I hear people raising any number of concerns about the proposed housing component.
2.) We should embrace fulfilling our share of affordable housing as development continues throughout the Township. What really interests me is the idea of seeing if Project Freedom will come to West Windsor.
“Project Freedom is a non-profit organization that develops and operates barrier-free housing to enable individuals with disabilities to live independently.” Not only can this significantly help fulfill our affordable housing obligation, but this is the right thing to do. Lawrence, Hamilton, and Washington townships already have Project Freedom campuses and we should add to their efforts. This is good for the disabled and this is good for West Windsor.
3.) Too much time has passed since the Township purchased some open space. If there comes a time when there are insufficient funds for both maintenance and acquisition then my decision will be guided by the belief that the economics and aesthetics of preserving open space to prevent more housing and congestion outweighs the spending projects for the long-run health of the Township.
4.) Time and again I have seen issues that come to Council’s attention only to find that there is a hesitation or lack of willingness to use Council meetings as a place where we can discuss and debate those issues.
The credentials of my running mates and I stand on their own. Charlie Morgan, George Borek and I bring an independent and unencumbered voice to Council. It is unfair to the Administration for Council not to take a more active role in addressing the residents’ concerns.
5.) When I grew up here I went to Maurice Hawk, Dutch Neck, and the High School (now High School South). I worked in the family business, the Beverage Barn, on Clarksville Road and had the chance to talk to our residents on a regular basis. I served on the West Windsor Site Plan Review Advisory Board and then I served as a trustee on my homeowners association at Windsor Ponds.
My wife and I are raising our sons here. My older son is playing in the same Little League that my grandfather helped get started so many years ago. My family has been involved in public service in the Township for as long as I can remember. I am presently finishing an unexpired term on Council and running for a full four-year term.
Having degrees in law and public administration are helpful in dealing with the issues that come to Council. Serving on Council and meeting in the same room where I saw my uncle and my father serve on the Zoning Board is an honor and a privilege for which I am enormously grateful. I hope that you will support me and my running mates so that I may be able to continue to serve you to the best of my ability.
