The West Windsor Township Council introduced an ordinance that will add over $5 million in expenses to the current capital budget. $4.9 million will be bonded, and the township will pay $248,”430 down for the nine-year bonds.

Among the items to be financed are $173,”670 in office equipment, $383,”250 in bike lane extensions and sidewalk repairs and installations, $353 in renovations to the former Princeton Junction firehouse Facility, and $782,”460 in improvements to Duck Pond and Community Parks.
The Senior Center Expansion is listed at an expense of $302,”820. The township previously included $500,”000 for the expansion in its 2007 capital budget.
The largest single expense is $1,”062,”390 in emergency road and drainage repairs and improvements, and annual road improvements. The locations this money is earmarked for include Alexander Road, for both reconstruction and signal improvements, Canal Pointe Boulevard for traffic analysis, and Wallace Circle intersection, for signage and striping improvements.
The bond will allow the township to acquire several new vehicles, including $464,”415 for fire and rescue vehicles. The Firehouse and First Aid Squad will also be fitted with diesel exhaust capture systems, at a cost of $60,”585 between the two.
The police department would get $49,”455 for firearms, radios, and other replacement safety equipment. It would also get $67,”095 for computer equipment and a new digital mugshot system.
The public works department would get several vehicles, including a compactor truck, mason dump trucks, double tandem dump trucks, and pickup trucks. The total amount for that equipment is $587,”160. The public works department is also slated for $146,”370 for sewer system improvements and $216 for other equipment, such as riding mowers.
Council will vote on the bond ordinance on Monday, May 14.
