Boston College: Colin Ryan of West Windsor is finishing his sophomore year in the honor program at Boston College. A double major in English and Hispanic studies, he has been inducted into the Golden Key National Honor society for sophomores at the top of their class. He also received recognition from the department of romance language and literature. This summer he will be an undergraduate research fellow in the English department.
Coastal Carolina University: Rachel Moscicki of Plainsboro receive a bachelor of arts degree in education.
George Mason University: Corrie E Novak of West Windsor received a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. Novak was on the honor roll and received the Janet Lozar Award for outstanding student in athletic training and Outstanding Achievement and Excellence Award.” She is a graduate of High School South, Class of 2003.
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey: Jeffrey Harwood Beam received a masters degree in biomedical science. A graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, Class of 2000, he graduated from Lehigh University in 2004. He is currently employed by Zeptometrics in Buffalo, New York.##M:[more]##
Mercer County Community College: Warren Schaeffer of Plainsboro graduated on May 24 as one of two MCCC students selected to represent Mercer on the Phi Theta Kappa All-State Academic Team. (Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two-year schools, whose members are selected for academic excellence.) Acknowledging learning disabilities he has worked diligently to overcome, he will graduate with a 3.4 grade point average.
A graduate of High School South, Schaeffer plans to continue for his education at Rider University with a concentration in Special Education.
Schaeffer was also selected for the MCCC Student Community Service Award in recognition of his active involvement in a variety of Mercer clubs and organizations. He served as president of the Mercer chapter of the Future Teachers Club, leading the club’s toys-for-tots holiday drive and a school supplies drive for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Schaeffer also served as a mentor for MCCC’s DREAM program, which provides educational opportunities for students with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. As a member of the DREAM advisory board, he was involved with this effort from its early stages, including grant procurement.
He has worked for seven years in the after-school program at Dutch Neck Elementary School. A survivor of Hodgkin’s disease, Schaeffer participates in the annual Lymphoma Research Foundation Walkathon.
Schaeffer’s commitment to community service was forged during his years as a student at High School South, where he founded Unity Day in 2001. He returns to his alma mater each spring to coordinate the day of field activities designed to build bridges between special needs students and the general student population.
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania: Anna Stetsovskaya of Plainsboro received a bachelor’s degree in economics concentration in management with a minor in psychology. Her plans include trips to Kenya for a safari with her family, and then Tokyo, Kyoto, Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. In September she begins work as an associate at the Boston Consulting Group.
Michigan State University: Elizabeth E. Dugan of Plainsboro was recognized for academic achievement at the recent commencement. She was one of 23 students with a perfect 4.0 average. A physiology major and a member of the Honors College, she received the F.B. Dutton Award recognizing her work to further science education. She will be attending Penn State College of Medicine in the fall. Dugan graduated from High School North.
Rutgers College: S. Matthew Cheser graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the history honor’s program summa cum laude on May 17. With highest honors in political science, he was awarded the Peter Spader Prize for best modern history thesis. He was named a Henry Rutgers Scholar, a Harold Lundberg Scholar, to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Rutgers Delegate to the Student Conference on U.S. Affairs at West Point, and to Phi Alpha Theta (history), Pi Sigma Alpha (political science), Gamma Sigma Alpha (Greek) honor societies, and was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity. He is a graduate of High School North, Class of 2003.
Washington and Lee University: Neville L. Fogarty of West Windsor was recently inducted into Phi Eta Sigma national honor society. To be eligible a student must be in the top 20 percent of the class at the end of the freshman year
