Prince of Peace Lutheran Church invites the community to its third annual summer forums series held on Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The series is “designed to provide informative conversation around issues relevant to life today as citizens,” says Paul Lutz, pastor of the church, who presents “How to Share Your Faith” on July 15. The church is located at 177 Princeton-Hightstown Road, West Windsor and all events are free.##M:[more]##
Lutz has been pastor at the church since November, 2003, when he was installed by Reverend Sonja J. Pancoast and Bishop E. Roy Riley. A graduate of Central Connecticut State College, he earned a master of divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He also holds a master’s degree in religious education from Boston College. Before coming to Prince of Peace, he served congregations in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, and Lawrence, Massachusetts.
He and his wife, Janet Bender Lutz, a substitute teacher in East Windsor, have two daughters, both students at Hightstown High School. Erika, a rising senior and a member of the National Honor Society, and Morgan, a rising sophomore in training to be a pole vaulter, are both on the varsity cheerleading squad. The family lives in East Windsor.
“One of the great tasks of the church is to help people get in touch with their faith stories, to help them to articulate the ways in which their lives have been transformed by God’s activity in their lives,” says Lutz. “A key to sharing your faith is the willingness to be honest about your own life struggles.”
Lutz feels that everyone has a story about their faith and one of the tasks of a congregation is to help people get in touch with their story. “It is our vulnerability, sense of inadequacies, and awareness of imperfections that can be most compelling about our faith sharing,” he says.
