Steve Goldin, the developer who pledged to donate $1.5 million dollars to get West Windsor’s redevelopment back on track, is organizing a bus trip to the Washington D.C. area to show residents examples of what type of development could happen in the township’s 350-acre area in need of redevelopment.##M:[more]##
“If a picture is worth 1,”000 words, a site visit is worth 1,”000 pictures,” said Goldin, who says he will sponsor more tours in the fall.
Goldin is inviting press and a “cross-section of the community” to take an overnight trip, departing Friday, July 27 and returning Saturday, July 28 to tour about ten locations in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.
He has invited members of various groups in the township, such as the Princeton Junction Neighborhood Coalition, the West Windsor Neighborhoods Association, the Little League, the Arts Council, and the Bicycle/Pedestrian Alliance. Members of the PJNC and the WWNA, along with members of the council and the administration, have distanced themselves from Goldin’s proposal, saying the township’s redevelopment should not be developer-driven.
He has invited the mayor and council, but any elected official that accepts the invitation will have to pay their own way, since they are prohibited from taking gifts. The per-person cost is $296 for the tour, which could accommodate up to 50 people.
Goldin’s company, InterCap Holdings, owns 25 acres in the redevelopment area.
