Raymond E. Douglas, 58, of St. Augustine, Florida, died June 29. He was a former West Windsor resident.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was a graduate of Michigan State University, and received a Purple Heart from the Air Force for his service in Vietnam.

Douglas, a founding member of USA Today, was the corporate chief information office at the New York Times. After his retirement in 2001, he founded the St. Augustine Community Journal.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Nancy Douglas of St. Augustine; his mother, Branche Costa Douglas of Leesburg, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marla Douglas of Leesburg; mother in law and father in law, Henry and Pearl Kwiatkowski of Bremerton, Washington; and nieces and nephews.

Gavin W. Hendrickson, 81, of Montgomery died June 29. Born and raised in West Windsor, he graduated from Princeton High School, Class of 1945. A Navy veteran, he retired from American Cyanamid in 1994.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gloria Hendrickson; sons and daughter in law, Daron Henrickson, Kerry Hendrickson, and Erica and Mary Hendrickson’ granddaughter, Cassidy Hendrickson; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bjorn Bache.

Susan Lyn Ashwood, 49, of Windsor died July 2 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. She was a special services teacher at High School North. A graduate of Hightstown High School, Class of 1973, she received her bachelor’s degree from Rider University where she was working on her master’s degree.

Survivors include her daughter, Kristin Nicole Campbell of East Windsor; her mother, Phyllis C. Ashwood of East Windsor; two sisters, Paula J. Ashwood-Shinn and husband, Robert of Hainesport and Betty J. Ashwood of Princeton; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Campbell of Trenton; two nephews, William Scott Wiedemann of Apalachin, New York, and John A. Ashwood of Hopkins, Minnesota. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Richard Carvalho, 55, of Bordentown died July 10 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton. Survivors include his brother, James Carvalho, and niece, Alexa, both of West Windsor. Donations may be made to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey Foundation, 120 Albany Street, Tower Two, Fifth Floor, New Brunswick 08901.

Mark Joseph Chagnon, 50, of Stratford, Connecticut died July 13. Survivors include a brother and sister in law, Linda and Henry Petri of West Windsor.

Marlin S. Carson, 88, of Blountville, Tennessee died July 14. Raised in Plainsboro on his family’s farm, Carson was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1936. He was a self-employed farmer until 1966, when he purchased a farm in Hopewell Township. He retired from farming in 1990.

Survivors include two daughters, Leslie Colburn, of Magnolia, Texas, and Nancy Maloney, of Bradenton, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Carson of Blontville, Tennessee; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to ARC of Cumberland County, 1680 West Sherman Avenue, Vineland 08360.
