Jon Menard of West Windsor has been named program director for the National Spherical Torus Experiment at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. As program head, Menard, a plasma physicist whose experience has been primarily on NSTX, focuses on defining the scientific research objectives for the project.##M:[more]##
Menard received a degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992, and a master’s and doctorate in plasma physics from Princeton University in 1994 and 1998, respectively. He joined the research staff at PPPL in 1999 after conducting post-doctoral research at PPPL.
Among his honors, Menard received the 2006 Kaul Prize for Excellence in Plasma Physics Research and Technology Development and the 2002 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.
