On October 19 more than 70 WWP Girl Scouts enjoyed a square dance at Millstone River School. Dan Koft, who began the evening with simple movements and dances, had all of the couples mastering advanced steps. The girls, along with their fathers, grandfathers, brothers and mothers, danced the evening away to old classics like the “Virginia Wheel” and to new songs like the “Electric Slide.” Light homemade refreshments were made by several Junior Girl Scout Troop 70217 Members.
The dance was organized by Troop 70217 Leaders Stacey Porfido, Helen Rancan, and May Rowland, and several parents from that troop including Wei Wu, Kathy Lin, Puja Mittal, and Geetika Singh.
“As a young girl scout, my sister and I attended square dances with our father and brothers,” says Rancan. “I hope square dancing will be memorable to today’s girl scout families as they still are to our.”
