Organizers of the event are West Windsor residents, Farvah Shah and Sarah Bhutta, who both have family members in Pakistan. “We feel we rally have to help out in some capacity,” says Bhutta. “There is still a lot of need in the area. Our emphasis is also awareness and education.”
Bhutta’s mother and cousins shared items including Pakistani shawls and stoles as well as some small handcraft items made of marble, throw cushions, and other artwork from Lahore.
Auction items include a signed etching by Hungarian artist Istvan Orosz, three pieces by Shannon Bueker, and two tickets to “The Regis Show” taping. Music presented by Kelly Scheer on piano.
“We chose IRC International Rescue Committee as our organization as they have been involved in the area for two decades and have a very low overhead,” says Bhutta. “Ninety percent of donations are directly used for the cause being funded.”
