Dartmouth College: Mita Sharma of West Windsor was chosen for the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program, an international competition that recognizes academic excellence and leadership potential by creating a network to share ideas and work collaboratively.##M:[more]##
A graduate of High School South, Class of 2004, she was valedictorian of the class. She is one of only 100 sophomore worldwide and one of 16 United States honorees. She plans to major in neuroscience and minor in chemistry.
At South, Sharma was co-president of the Red Cross Club, president of the National Spanish Honor Society, co-president of the Spanish Club, treasurer of the National Honor Society, and vice president of the Red Cross of Central NJ Youth Council. She volunteered at the University Medical Center at Princeton and worked at Village School extended day program. Last summer she and her sister, Shikha, became EMTs and volunteered at the Twin “W” First Aid Squad. (The News, December 2, 2005).
Pennsylvania State University: Thenappan Chandrasekar of Plainsboro was awarded a Phi Kappa Phi fellowship to pursue a degree in medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He received his bachelor of science degree in life sciences from Eberly College of Science, Penn State University in December — just 18 months after graduating from High School North, Class of 2004. Princeton University: James Wray of West Windsor is heading away from earth for his senior thesis project. He has been using a telescope in New Mexico to observe Jupiter’s Europa and Saturn’s Enceladus. His faculty advisor is Ed Turner
“Finding life anywhere in the universe, whether on these moons or someplace else, would bring such a change to our perception and philosophy that it’s easy for me to dedicate my own life to the search,” he says.
A graduate of High School South, Class of 2002, he was the Star-Ledger Scholar for Middlesex County. Wray will attend Cornell University for graduate school.
Rutgers College: Jessica Godofsky of West Windsor was on the fall dean’s list. A freshman, she is a graduate of High School South. She is transferring to College of New Jersey to begin a dual degree program of public health and medical degrees.
Washington and Lee University: Jonathan Michael Lupo and Shreya Durvasula, both freshmen from West Windsor were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma national honor society.
