“Moments in Time,” a photography exhibit opens in West Windsor Library on Tuesday, January 2, featuring the art of Ann Liang Mark, who was born in China and raised in Taiwan. According to Mark, she has used lenses that combine Asian and American sensibilities and glimpse beauty in all shapes and forms. It is on view through January 31.
Mark, a Lawrenceville resident, has lived and worked in the U.S. for more than three decades. She is a member of the Princeton Photography Club, and a contributing photographer for “Princeton: Still Making History.” She works in the corporate communications department at Bristol-Myers Squibb. “My goal in my art and my photography has been to bring my experiences there to my world here,” she says. “I’ve sought to capture the beauty of this land — in both its bold and sublime colors — grand and small.”
While her photograph taken at the Princeton Junction firehouse is interesting artistically, the West Windsor fire truck at the fire department makes it even more interesting to area residents.
“To the extent that I can recall and understand how my past has continued to shape me, I’m convinced that two things in life have intrigued me profoundly: words and pictures,” she says. “I read and write words. I draw and take pictures. While my published stories and books are in Chinese, my photographs are beyond boundary they are presented here for you. I hope that they will help to enrich your own present by embracing the past as I’ve tried to do.”
