Lizzie Pauker of West Windsor has a front-row seat at the presidential inauguration in Washington D.C. She was selected to participate in the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference, which takes place Sunday through Friday, January 16 to 21.
“Throughout the six-day conference Pauker will enjoy the pageantry that accompanies the presidential inauguration in addition to interacting with some of Washington’s top news and policy makers in examining its historical significance,” says Mike Lasday, executive director of the youth council.
Pauker will go to the inauguration ceremony and to balls and will participate in a simulation of the electoral process and campaign strategies. Students will assume roles in campaign operatives, deciding which candidate would best serve as President .
A senior at High School South, Pauker was born in New Brunswick and moved to West Windsor when she was in seventh grade. She found out about the organization through her guidance counselor, Linda D’Orlando. Pauker is taking advanced placement government and history and plans to become involved in public policy.
Her parents, Anne and Charlie Kreitzberg, own Cognetics Corporation in West Windsor. Her older sister, Carrie, is in the honors program at Tulane University. Her sister, Melanie, is a sophomore at High School South.
“Pauker has worked on three political campaigns and knows that it is important to keep an open mind,” says her mother. “She was invited to both conventions but was not sure that it was safe. We are glad that she is able to continue on her journey.”
