Walk of Fame
Dutch Neck Elementary School has launched the Walk of Fame campaign to build a garden pathway leading from the visitor parking lot to the arboretum and amphitheater. The ongoing land beautification project was begun several years ago by Principal Scott Feeder and children’s author Lynne Cherry.
“When Ms. Cherry came to Dutch Neck as a part of our visiting author program, we spoke of the wonderful ground we have around the school and what a great site this would be to create an outdoor learning space,” says Feder. “We brainstormed on topics such as planning, reforesting, and integrating science and math in nature’s classroom. Since then we’ve had two planting phases resulting in saplings decorating a once empty grass lot.”
The path will wind its way through the trees to a set of risers forming a semi-circle sheltered by evergreen shrubs. Barbara Nabial, the PTA president, plans for a group of Eagle Scouts to repair the risers. When complete, the area could be used for concerts and graduations. Bricks cost $25, and include three lines of engraving. To support the school or recognize alumni, contact Angie Crichton at 609-275-6877.

While earning high school credit they explored some of the most prominent monuments and institutions in the United States.
The program examined the characteristics of American leadership during times of national challenge and prosperity. Delegates also participated in small group discussion to experience how successful leaders develop strategies, make decisions, build consensus, and foster change.
