Sophie E. Majkszak, 84, of Robbinsville died May 15. Survivors include daughter and son in law Patricia and Steven Stewart of West Windsor. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 600 South White Horse Pike, Audubon 08106.

Ann L. Bucci,”86 of Ewing died May 25 at home. Survivors include sister-in-law Hope Bucci of Plainsboro. Arrangements were by Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home in Ewing.

John E. Gallagher, 65, of Springfield, died May 26. Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Gallagher of Springfield, Keri and her husband, John Stencel of Point Pleasant ; grandchildren Kyle and Ryan Stencel; siblings, Ronnie Giardino of Pequannock, Arlene Tomkins of Elizabeth, and “Greenie” Bailey of Closter.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he lived in Jersey City, Bayonne, West Windsor, Washington Township, and Springfield. He served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division. After graduating from Newark College of Engineering with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked at PSE&G’s until he retired in September of 2001. Jean E. Smith, 84, of West Windsor died May 26 at home. Born in Lambertville and raised in Princeton, she lived in West Windsor for more than 40 years.

A homemaker her entire life, she was a member of the Princeton Junction Fire Co. No. 1 Ladies Auxiliary, and a life member of the VFW Post 5700 in Hightstown.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Earl L. Smith Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline J. and Vincent W. Leone of Willingboro and Kathy Lee and Kevin A. Boehm Sr. of Wall; a son, Earl L. Smith III of Sutton, Arkansas; a sister, Mary Virginia Pierre of Lawrenceville; 12 grandchildren, Kevin, Brenda, Chip, Selina, D’Arcy, Seth, Jayme, Ethan, Fred, Peter, Bell and Hazel; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty Javick, 70, of Hockessin, Delaware died May 25 at home. She lived in West Windsor for 30 years before moving to Delaware in 1999.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Dr. Richard A. Javick; her brothers Hugh Nixon and wife Willye of Farmville, Virginia, Joseph Nixon and wife Margaret of Boca Raton, Florida, John Nixon and wife Betty of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Robert Nixon and wife Edie of Medford; her sisters Monica Kenney and husband Eugene of Olyphant, Pennsylvania, Joan Guinane and husband Thomas of Somerville; and 34 nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her children Lawrence Javick and wife Carolyn, Bernadette Javick, Lorraine Comfort and husband John, Matthew Javick and fiancee Adriana Ciappetta, Patrick Javick and wife Kristine, all of Hamilton, Theresa Craparotta and husband Joe of Chambersburg, Ruth Hall and husband Steve of Robins AFB, Georgia, Margaret Mary Zola and husband Kevin of Burlington, Mark Javick and wife Holly of Princeton, Eileen Javick and fiance Brian Renner of Charlotte, North Carolina, and 15 grandchildren with three impending births.

Alice R. Morgan of Cumberland, Maine died on May 16 at the Maine Medical Center on her 80th birthday. She is the mother of West Windsor Councilman Charles Morgan.

Survivors also include her daughter-in-law, Lois Morgan; grandchildren Corinne Chaussepied and her husband Laurent of Bordentown, Christopher Morgan and his wife Tracy Ettels of Lambertville, and Kimberly McWhorter and her husband Tyler of Lambertville; and great grandchildren, Jordan, Allayna, Drew, Devin, and Mackenzie.

A school teacher for many years in Massachusetts with the Wayland Town House and later the Wayland public schools, she was instrumental in the founding and development of Sudbury Valley Trustees with her late husband, Allen H. Morgan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 4 p.m. in the Wayland Unitarian Church followed by a small graveside ceremony. Donations may be made to Sudbury Valley Trustees, 18 Wolbach Road, Sudbury, MA 01776.

Walter R. Stryker Sr., 80, of Delaware Township, died on June 1 in the Hunterdon Medical Center. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Wayne Carson of Plainsboro. For more information visit www.holcombefisher.com.

Teresa A. Cherny, 35, of Hamilton died June 5 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Survivors include an uncle and his wife, William and Lisa Schmid of West Windsor. Donations may be made to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Foundation.

Alice K. Palumbo, 59, of West Windsor died June 5 at University Medical Center at Princeton. Born in Kessab, Syria, she was a resident of the area for 35 years.

A graduate of a designing school in Bologna, Italy, she had a successful dress designing firm.

Survivors include a daughter, Tania Palumbo of Jackson; two sons, John Palumbo of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Michael Palumbo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Araxi Chiavoni of Jackson and Berge Campbell of Cream Ridge; a brother, Vartan Aklian of East Windsor; and a grandchild.

Arrangements were by Kimble Funeral Home in Princeton.
