Musical Notes
Joshua Everett Andrew Suslak, 13, an eighth grade student at Grover Middle School, continues his musical endeavors. He not only entertains at Bear Creek and Forsgate assisted living facilities, but he now also performs at the University Medical Center of Princeton.
He took first place for his performance at the Golden Key Music and Arts Festival. On Saturday, May 8, he performs at Carnegie Hall as part of the winners recital. Tickets are available through www.carnegiehall.org.
On Stage
Andrew Blake Zutty opens on June 27 in “Children’s Letters to God” at the Lambs Theater, 44th Street between 6th and 7th avenues in New York. Zutty will originate the part of Kicker Jones in the musical based on the children’s book written by Stuart Hample.
A student at Village School, he recently played the part of Jonathan in “A Christmas Carol” on Broadway. Last summer he played the title role in “Oliver” in West Virginia.
Business
Rita Wolkind of Plainsboro recently attended Wachovia Mortgage Corporations’ Circle of Excellence Celebration in Orlando, Florida. The event honored the top 15 percent of sales performers from across the country. In 2003, she closed on over 36 million dollars in mortgage volume. She has been with Wachovia for nine years.
County Executive Brian M. Hughes has reappointed Eileen Doremus of West Windsor to the County of Mercer Council on Aging.
Wegmans Food Markets receives the first Outstanding Employer Award for responsibly employing and managing three West Windsor-Plainsboro High School students with cognitive disabilities. Front-end manager Keith Grieve, and employee representative Maria Trusky, both instrumental in employing the students, will accept the award from Supported Employment Advisory Board of Central New Jersey (SEAB) on Friday, April 23.
In September, Wegmans was approached by Kim Hodnicki, the job coach in the school district. The first student, a young man, was hired as a busboy. Two more students were hired for shelf straightening.
Wegmans also has activities planned for 28 children on Thursday, April 22, for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, including shadowing their parents in their specific departments.
