“The restaurant is a dream project come true,” says Sri Chandupatla, owner of the new Ganges Restaurant in West Windsor at 33 Princeton-Hightstown Road (in the former Ellsworth location). “I grew up with a passion for cooking.” Chandupatla was born and raised in India, and her interest in restaurants and food were inspired by her father who owned wedding halls.
The food served at Ganges is a combination of cuisines — Northern Indian and Southern Indian, featuring Hyperabadi specials. “We are different than all of the other Indian restaurants in the area,” says Chandupatla, who oversaw the remodeling of the former deli. “I went to India to get the art on the walls. I also picked each color, light, and the little lanterns on the ceiling.”
