I was born singing,”” says Amy Raditz of Plainsboro. “”It’s a great outlet to have that gift. Raditz is one of the six women who make up the female a cappella group Key of She. The eclectic group, which performs popular, jazz, and pop music, appears at Orpha’s Coffee Shop, 1330 Route 206 in Skillman, for a return engagement on Friday, July 9, at 7 p.m. Admission is free. All altos, and all former members of Double Trouble (which folded in 2000), the group presents their rich tones using microphones.
Born in Philadelphia, Raditz grew up in Massachusetts. After graduating from Brandeis University with degrees in theater arts and foreign languages, she moved to New York where she ended up not in theater – but in the hotel industry, working for the Waldorf Astoria. In 1984 she moved to Plainsboro to work at the Scanticon Hotel (now Doral Forrestal). With her years of studying foreign languages and organizing both domestic and international conferences, she speaks conversational French, Spanish, Russian, and Hebrew.
After spending 15 years working in hospitality sales and marketing, meetings management, and customer service, she was downsized. She decided to go back to school and earned a master’s degree in career counseling at Rider University in 1993. Since 1995 she has been a managing consultant with DBN in Princeton working in career coaching and global help placement. She shares her Princeton Landing home with her boyfriend, Ken Bogan, and Ping and Radar, their cats.
Although she still enjoys theater, Raditz says she no longer has time for rehearsals. Active in shows during high school, she has appeared in community theater appearances at both Kelsey and Open Air theaters. One of her favorite plays was in 1986 when she appeared in Cabaret. Raditz sang with the now defunct Double Trouble from 1988 to 2000 and has been with Key of She for four years.
