Ewing Township is asking residents to complete a new survey as it considers applying for state funding to build a fully inclusive playground next to the new Ewing Senior and Community Center.
The project would follow Jake’s Law, New Jersey’s standard for completely inclusive playgrounds, and provide accessible play opportunities for children and adults of all abilities. The playground would be funded through the New Jersey Green Acres Program.
Town officials said the survey takes about five minutes to complete. Residents can participate by filling out the Ewing Township Completely Inclusive Playground Community Survey on the township’s website.
“Your input is vital in helping us understand the recreational needs and priorities that will service all members of our community,” said the township in a release.
Responses will help guide the playground’s development, as well as future programming and accessibility initiatives.
Mayor Bert Steinmann will also host three public hearings for residents to learn more about the proposal and offer comments.
The township will hold hearings on Monday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Hollowbrook Community Center, and on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Ewing Municipal Building, 2 Jake Garzio Drive.
Residents are encouraged to attend and share feedback as the township works to expand inclusive recreation opportunities across its parks.
