The New Jersey Clean Communities Council, which runs the state’s litter abatement program, has honored Hamilton Township’s Clean Communities Coordinator, Jimmy Wyrough, with the 2025 Stormwater Management Award.
Wyrough accepted the statewide award at the 20th annual Clean Communities Expo and Awards Celebration.
The NJCCC said that Wyrough has been a dedicated advocate for the Delaware River Cleanup initiative, a coordinated effort to clean up litter along the riverbanks, since 2021, providing support to the Duck Island site. His contributions include organizing efforts, offering staff assistance and supplying essential equipment and Dumpsters.
“This award is not just about me,” Wyrough said. “It is a recognition of the care and commitment of our team at Public Works, the Environmental Advisory Commission, and the dedicated community volunteers that support our environmental stewardship programs and events.”
Tucked away in a secluded area surrounded by industrial zones, the Abbott Marshlands area is a common dumping ground for contractors and individuals, according to the NJCCC.
“Jimmy’s work day in and day out to preserve such an overlooked environment sets a terrific example for every Clean Communities Coordinator in the state,” said NJCCC executive director JoAnn Gemenden. “It was a pleasure to present him with this award.”
