At a time when our school district is facing significant financial challenges, our Community Town Hall on December 18 served as a powerful reminder of how deeply Robbinsville cares about its schools.
The forum provided an important opportunity for township residents to share their perspectives on how the district can move forward. Every voice matters, and we are listening. While participants brought a wide range of viewpoints, the discussion reinforced a shared goal: creating a sustainable financial future for Robbinsville Public Schools.
A key theme raised by parents and students alike was the importance of extracurricular programs. Athletics, clubs, and activities provide vital opportunities for social development, physical wellness, and personal growth. Avoiding cuts to these essential programs remains a priority for all of us.
Community members also asked thoughtful questions about the timeline for solutions. It is critical that we establish a multi-year plan so we do not face these same challenges again in the near future. On January 5, district administration will present a comprehensive plan informed by community feedback gathered at the forum and through our surveys.
Forums like this are essential, as we work together to shape the future of our schools. Lasting change is built on empathy, honesty, and two-way communication, and I was encouraged to see those values so clearly reflected throughout the evening.
I would also like to thank everyone who completed the Future Ready Community Survey. To reflect the diverse perspectives within our community, alternate versions were sent to students, parents, staff, and residents. Surveys will continue to be used regularly during my superintendency to gather meaningful feedback.
Your responses, particularly regarding cost-saving measures, revenue-generating ideas, and the programs and services most important to our community, will help guide our next steps as we address the district’s financial challenges in a transparent, practical, and community-aligned way. Public engagement will continue and expand in the new year.
The challenge before us is clear: without improvement in our revenue budget, our schools will experience significant student-facing reductions in staff, programs, and learning opportunities in the 2026–27 school year. These challenges are real and daunting, and, if nothing changes, our projected outlook for 2027–28 is dire
Our students deserve the very best. Every day, we celebrate their accomplishments, and it is our responsibility to nurture that growth, not limit it due to financial constraints.
I firmly believe that the best way to meet a challenge is head-on, by working together to develop workable solutions. That is exactly what we are doing, and together, we can navigate these challenges successfully.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has contributed time, insight, and feedback during this pivotal moment. The partnership and support of our community mean everything to us, and your voice remains our most important consideration as we move forward.
On behalf of Robbinsville Public Schools, I wish you a happy holiday season, and I look forward to continuing this important work together in the new year.
Dr. Patrick Pizzo is Superintendent of the Robbinsville Public Schools.
